According to NFL and Sports Illustrated, Beasley retired to spend more time with his family.
Beasley began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys. The SMU product spent 7 seasons wearing the star on his helmet and would go on to become an excellent slot receiver, and one of former Cowboys QB Tony Romo's favorite targets. In Dallas, Beasley caught 319 passes for 3,271 and 23 touchdowns.
Beasley then went on to play for the Buffalo Bills in 2019 catching 67 passes for 2,438 yards and 11 touchdowns. While playing for the Bills, Beasley infamously talked trash about how his former team (Cowboys) and how they did business. Then later he would stir up controversy with his Covid anti-vaccination stance.
In 2022, Beasley became a free agent. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him and he would play just 2 games before deciding to retire.
On a personal level, I was a huge fan of Beasley, until he started talking trash about the Cowboys. Still, after the Cowboys were having some issues at wide receiver, I thought he might be a good fit wearing the star again. But, it obviously didn't happen.
In any case, congrats on the retirement, Bease!
