The Killers are reportedly working with critically acclaimed German filmmaker Werner Herzog on a concert webcast set to be shot in New York City on Sept. 18, the same day that the band’s new ‘Battle Born’ album hits stores.

The wait for the new music from the Killers is over. The Las Vegas band, whose last album was 2008′s ‘Day and Age,’ won’t put out their fourth record, ‘Battle Born’ until the fall, but the first single, ‘Runaways’ has been released today (July 10).

The Killers have been revealing bits of information about their forthcoming album ‘Battle Born’ in piecemeal fashion. The Las Vegas-based band continued that pace by unveiling the cover image for ‘Runaways,’ the first single from the album.

It’s been four years since the Killers released their last album, 2008′s ‘Day and Age.’ The Las Vegas foursome took a year-long hiatus in 2010 and reconvened last year. Since then, the band has been working on its new album, ‘Battle Born,’ and frontman Brandon Flowers recently revealed he even took singing lessons to help prepare himself to record the new disc.

The Killers have always aspired to create music that’s cinematic in scope, so it’s no surprise that when they decided to cut a trailer for their upcoming album, ‘Battle Born,’ they ended up making one that really looks like it was made for a film.
