Weezer have announced their upcoming eleventh album Pacific Daydream which is set to release on Oct. 27. The band has also released a new single titled "Mexican Fender," which you can listen to above.

The song is on Weezer's poppier register in terms of their output, presenting a pretty straightforward but infectious guitar hook. Rivers Cuomo delivers lyrics about, what else, a girl that he met in a guitar shop. The chorus comes in hard, nailing the group's formula and mastery of pop rock with its huge hooks. Cuomo continues to recount this story of summer love, carrying a backing chorus of "ooohs" all the while. The song hits a spacey bridge, before charging back down to earth in an ultra fast series of drumbeats and guitar hooks.

Of the album's art, singer Rivers Cuomo quoted a Chinese proverb inspiring the album, "Once upon a time, I, Chuang Chou, dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was Chou. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man."

According to the statement, Pacific Daydream was born from what was to be the band's Black Album. "As they worked, they found the songs they were writing felt more like reveries from a beach at the end of the world," says a statement from the band's press release.

Earlier last month, the group released a video for their single "Feels Like Summer." The video showed the band playing a live show, dressed up like Guns N' Roses for the video's entirety, in one of the funniest things the band has done.
