Texas Bank Robbery Suspect Wore a Star Wars Helmet—Police Offer $1,000 Reward
Texas officials are scoping the galaxy for a would-be bandit wearing a Star Wars helmet who robbed a bank in Abilene.
Bank Robbery In Abilene Texas
On August 11, 2025, the suspect stormed into the Western Bank on Buffalo Gap Road in south Abilene, not with a blaster, but at least a helmet that would make any Jedi jealous. Wearing all black and sporting a mysterious white Star Wars-style helmet (plus gloves), he handed over a not-so-friendly demand for cash, then dashed off northward on foot.
It's unclear how much money was taken, but the audacity is stronger than the dark side.

Wanted: One Galactic Criminal (Reward Included)
Abilene Crime Stoppers and local police have put out a $1,000 reward for tips leading to this intergalactic–looking bandit’s ID. Residents of Abilene: if that helmet seems eerily familiar, please call APD at 676-6610 or Crime Stoppers at (325) 676-8477. The FBI is also on the case, clearly intrigued by this lame use of The Force.

Why a Star Wars Helmet? Only Yoda Knows
Now, I’m no Jedi Council member, but this choice of disguise raises a lot of questions. Was the suspect trying to channel their inner Stormtrooper, forgetting that Stormtroopers are famous for never hitting their target? Or maybe they thought the Force would cloak them from security cameras like some kind of low-budget Jedi mind trick.
If you’re going to commit a robbery in Abilene, why stop at a generic helmet? Go big! Throw on a Darth Vader mask and at least breathe menacingly. Or grab a Chewbacca suit and give us a good roar on your way out the door.
