Summer is upon us and while sitting poolside with a cold beverage and enjoying the sun is probably the plan, mosquitos are gearing up to ruin those plans. But some states have bigger problems with these blood-sucking pests than others.

Orkin came out with their annual list of top cities for mosquitoes and while Texas didn't make the top spot, there were still two cities in the top ten and several in the top 50.

To come up with the list, Orkin used treatment data from the metro areas where the company performed the most mosquito control services from April 1st, 2022 to March 31st, 2023

Taking the top spot is that little old town in California called Los Angeles. I guess since it's close to the coast that makes sense. But with all the smog and such there, I can't see those little skeeters living that long.

Nevertheless, check out the list of the top 10 with the full list here.

Top Mosquito Cities

  1. Los Angeles
  2. Chicago
  3. New York
  4. Atlanta
  5. Dallas/Ft. Worth
  6. Washington DC
  7. Philadelphia
  8. Detroit
  9. Houston
  10. Charlotte

Other Texas cities making the list include San Antonio and Austin. Not making the list is my back patio. Seriously, I think I have all the Texas mosquitos in my backyard already. I seriously hate mosquitos.

Also, I'm super surprised that not a single town in Florida made the top ten. Maybe it's proof that even mosquitos know which states to stay out of. I kid. Sorry, Florida.
