Hearts BBQ 5th Annual Backpack Giveaway This Saturday

School is just around the corner in Texas. While many Texans shop for school supplies, many children cannot do so due to their circumstances. Hearts BBQ in Abilene is looking to change that with their 5th annual Backpack Giveaway.

Sharleene Jacques and her brother own Hearts BBQ, a food truck that has not only been serving the Abilene community with their amazing food but with their amazing hearts as well.

What started with the two donating their tips to collect school supplies for needy children has gradually turned into an amazing event. In 2020, they were able to donate 30 backpacks. The next year, they donated 75 backpacks. In 2022 they donated a whopping 225 backpacks.

This year, the goal was to be able to disperse 1000 backpacks to needy children.

Hearts BBQ 5th Annual Backpack Giveaway

Hearts BBQ along with Townsquare Media, Hanna Law Firm, and Abilene Recovering Council present the 5th Annual Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, August 3rd at the Drug Emporium parking lot at 2550 Barrow Street from 10 am to to12:30 pm.

Hearts BBQ will be providing hotdogs and chips, plus you'll be able to cool off with free snow cones from Zombie Cones. Vitamins Plus will also be offering free vitamins.

It's an event by the community, for the community.
