Yup, you read that headline correctly. And no, it's not a different Russell Wilson. We are talking about the Russell Wilson who plays for the Seattle Seahawks. But we aren't talking about the Seattle Seahawks trading him. It was the Texas Rangers trading him to the New York Yankees. Wilson said:

"While football is my passion and my livelihood, baseball remains a huge part of where I came from and who I am today. I've learned so much on the baseball field that translates to my game physically and mentally playing quarterback in the NFL. I thank the Rangers and their great fans for making me feel at home and a part of the family! While I embrace the chance to be a New York Yankee, I will forever be grateful to have been a part of a world class organization like the Texas Rangers."

Wilson was drafted out of high school back in 2007 by the Baltimore Orioles. He turned that down in order to go to NC State. In 2010, he was drafted again, this time by the Colorado Rockies and spent a couple years in the farm system before choosing football full time.
