A few months ago, a train derailed in Abilene along South First Street. Since then, several train cars remain laid out on their sides creating an ugly scene along that corridor. If someone doesn't collect them soon, I'm afraid they'll become Dollar General stores.

On Saturday, June 24, a train jumped the tracks around South First and Pioneer Drive. Thankfully there were no injuries reported and no cars were involved, according to Big Country Homepage.

In fact, one YouTuber snagged some video footage shortly after the train derailed.

As of this writing, there has been no word on what exactly caused the train to derail. Come on, who left the penny on the tracks?

Since the incident, several train cars have been left propped up on their sides with no resolution in sight. As someone who works on South First, I pass by this site at least twice a day, and it is an eyesore. Not to mention all the distracted drivers looking at the wreck (me), causing near-miss rear-end collisions.

So, what's the scoop? When will it be cleaned up? Will Dollar General stores take over the cars? Will someone write a song called "The Train Is Not Rolling"?

I snapped a pic and posted it on my Facebook page, and here is what some of you had to say about the mess.
