Success Through Words: The Quotes That Keep Me Going

Throughout our building, our Market President, Mr. Sanchez, posts positive and motivational quotes that regularly catch my attention. Every few weeks, a new one seems to appear, replacing another that had me thinking for days.

You'll see them in hallways, near doorways, and around corners where you least expect them. Sometimes I'll stop for a moment, read one, and think about it as I head back to my office.

Recently, I was walking through Sam's Club when I noticed something similar. Along one of the walls were quotes from Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart and Sam's Club. Once again, I found myself slowing down to read them.

That's when I realized something.

Words matter.

The right words at the right time can inspire us, motivate us, and sometimes even change the direction of our day.

Over the years, I've collected a few sayings that have stayed with me.

One hangs near my computer at home:

"Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance,"

I call it the 5 P's.

Whether it's preparing for a radio show, writing an article, or tackling a challenge in life, I've learned that success usually starts with preparation.

But there's one quote that inspires me more than any other.

"You fail when you fail to try."

I've shared that saying with all eight of my children, and it's one I still remind myself of today.

Whenever I see those words, I find myself getting back to work, pushing a little harder, and reminding myself that success begins with taking action.

Maybe that's why I enjoy reading the quotes Mr. Sanchez posts around our building. Maybe that's why I stopped to read the ones at Sam's Club.
