Police in Texas have officially stepped into the hemp wars, and the latest casualty is CBD House of Healing in Abilene. According to reports, police recently confiscated what they called “illegal drug paraphernalia” from the shop, forcing the business to close its doors temporarily.

Now, if you’re keeping score at home, that means businesses selling hemp and THC alternatives are finding themselves under the microscope more than ever. And by “microscope,” I mean police officers walking in and hauling off product like it’s a bad episode of Storage Wars.

What hits different about this one is that I actually had the owners of House of Healing, Brittany and Brennon, on my show not long ago. They shared how the THC ban in Texas would negatively affect not just their business, but also veterans, first responders, and people struggling with chronic pain. You can check out that interview and article right here.

Hearing that they’re now dealing with this latest police crackdown feels like watching the sequel nobody wanted.

For years, we have been committed to providing safe and legal products while operating in full compliance with all state and local laws. In recent months, we have maintained an open dialogue with both the Abilene Police Department and the City Attorney’s office to ensure transparency and compliance,” the CBD House of Healing shared. “CBD House of Healing stands by its commitment to responsible operation and full compliance with Texas law. We are confident that our transparent practices and good faith efforts will be confirmed as the facts come to light. We deeply appreciate the support of our customers and community and will continue to provide updates. - CBD House of Healing

Hemp Humor in a Serious Situation

Look, this is serious business for shop owners in Texas trying to make a living while wading through the confusing laws in Texas. But you have to wonder what “illegal paraphernalia” really looked like? Were cops bagging up hemp gummies shaped like candy, or hauling off lavender-scented CBD lotion that smells like something straight out of grandma’s bathroom cabinet?

Who’s Really Calling the Shots In Abilene Texas?

What doesn’t make sense to me is how a business like House of Healing could be approved to operate one minute and then suddenly be shut down the next. That's not just confusing, it seems unfair.

I get that the Abilene Police Department is simply doing its job, but the bigger question is: who’s telling them to do it, and why is the target constantly moving? Until the state figures that out, it feels like businesses and customers are caught in the crossfire.

The THC Battle in Abilene Isn’t Slowing Down

Whether you’re pro-hemp, anti-hemp, or just here for the drama, one thing’s clear: this battle isn’t slowing down anytime soon in Abilene. And judging by how things are going, business owners better have both a lawyer and a backup plan on speed dial.

At the end of the day, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I’m against a THC ban. It hurts veterans, first responders, chronic pain sufferers, and small businesses just trying to stay afloat.
