Eddie Vedder will help pay tribute to The Who at an upcoming benefit show. The Pearl Jam singer will appear with Who guitarist Pete Townshend himself for a concert called Celebrating The Who, which will take place May 14 in Chicago. Profits from the event will benefit Teen Cancer America, a charity that was started by Townshend and singer Roger Daltrey that benefits children and teenagers battling cancer.

This isn’t the first time Vedder has honored The Who. The musician was included in the lineup for last year's An Evening of Who Music, which was a celebration of the band's 50th anniversary. That show included performances by former-Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, Rush's Geddy Lee and more and benefited the Teenage Cancer Trust as well.

Vedder has been fairly outspoken about his love of the band. He wrote a piece about The Who for Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Artists list, in which he talks about his love for the group and shares the memory of hearing them for the first time. Here's an excerpt from the article, “Imagine, as a kid, stumbling upon the locomotive that is Live at Leeds. ‘Hi, my name is Eddie. I’m 10 years old and I’m getting my f--king mind blown!’” He also wrote about how great it feels to be a fan, “Presumptuously, I speak for all Who fans when I say being a fan of the Who has incalculably enriched my life.”

Pete’s brother Simon Townshend and The Who’s other touring musicians Zak Starkey, Pino Palladino, John Corey, Loren Go and Frank Simes will also be joining Vedder and Pete on May 14 to celebrate The Who. Tickets for the Chicago event go on sale April 21 over on Ticketmaster.
