Cowboys Corral: Jimmy Johnson Goes to ROH, Cee Dee Lamb Breaks Franchise Records
The Dallas Cowboys improved to 11-5 on the season with a 20-19 controversial win over the Detroit Lions. The night also saw Cee Dee Lamb break a few franchise records and Jimmy Johnson be welcomed into the Ring of Honor.
It wasn't the prettiest win in the world for the Dallas Cowboys, as the game was super close through four quarters of play. But what an ending! I'm sure the Detroit Lions and their fanbase are still simmering in anger about another weird call by the officials.
Controversial Ending
The Cowboys had a 20-13 lead late in the fourth quarter. After driving the length of the field to score a touchdown with just seconds left, Lions coach Dan Campbell decided to try to win the game by going for two points.
After initially making the two points and seemingly winning the game, the Lions were flagged because the lineman who caught the ball had not reported as an illegible receiver. The Lions say he did, but the NFL refs said otherwise. Game over.
NFL refs have been having a tough year. Their lack of consistency across all games this year has been abysmal and has determined the outcome of some games. Did their latest stumble secure the win for the Cowboys?
That was just one of many bad calls in that game alone. Yes, it was a crazy ending to a game that saw the Detroit Lions do what no other team has done to the Cowboys at home all year.
The Cowboys just couldn't get out to the big lead they have been accustomed to at home all year. The Lions stopped almost anything the Cowboys did. Well, except for Cee Dee Lamb.
Cee Dee Lamb Breaks Michael Irvin's Records
While the Cowboys' offense had a rough day against the Lions, wide receiver Cee Dee Lamb had a career day, hauling in 13 catches for 277 yards with 92 of them coming on this play.
Lamb also broke Michael Irvin's franchise record for the most receiving yards and catches in a season. The dude is just a stud.
Jimmy Johnson Finally Inducted Into ROH
It has been a long time coming, but former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson was finally inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor. Former Cowboys Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Charles Haley, and others joined the Pro Football Hall of Famer as he was celebrated. Congrats, coach!
The Cowboys wrap up their season against the Washington Commanders with a shot at winning the NFC East on the line thanks to the Eagles' loss to the Cardinals. In the meantime, check out the best images of the game between the Cowboys and Lions below.
