Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys may have been booted from the NFL playoffs, but the starting quarterback for America's Team was able to pick up a nice accolade, winning the 2022 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.

The seven-year veteran picked up the award at the NFL Honors in Phoenix last night (Thursday, February 9th) to cap a season that ended with a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs.

I've been super critical of Dak in the past, and those thoughts haven't changed. But, I've said all along, that there is no question that the former Mississippi State star is a good dude with a heart the size of Texas.

Aside from my personal views on Dak as a quarterback and player, you have to respect someone that had a devastating injury, and then come back and perform the way he did in 2022. His acceptance speech, which was retweeted by Kansas City Chiefs signal caller, Patrick Mahomes, showed just what kind of man Dak is.

Prescott is only the fourth Dallas Cowboys player to receive the Walter Payton award, following Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman, and Jason Witten.

Huge congrats to Dak on a well-deserved award. Here's hoping that 2023 brings Dak and the boys another awesome award, the Vince Lombardi trophy.
