In a tale that sounds like a twisted dessert-themed thriller, a Texas woman is accused of coming up with a deadly plan to murder her ex-husband, Jeffrey Kauth, using fentanyl-laced chocolates.

Disguised as a congratulatory gift from a travel agency, the sweet gift of chocolates was meant to celebrate Kauth's recent engagement, complete with a fake "honeymoon" incentive offer.

From Sweet Treats to Sour Intentions

Stanley's alleged plot began to unravel when she was recorded discussing her intentions with an informant. Oops! In a sting operation, she drove several hours from Coleman, Texas, to meet undercover officers, believing she was purchasing fentanyl. Instead, she was arrested in a motel parking lot, along with a good amount of meth.

 A History of Hostility

According to The Independent, this wasn't Stanley's first alleged attempt on Kauth's life. He claims she previously tried to hire a hitman 18 months prior, who ultimately warned him of her intentions. Kauth has since lived in fear, keeping his lights off and installing security cameras.

Legal Consequences

Stanley faces multiple charges, including criminal solicitation with intent to commit murder, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Her bond is set at $450,000.

This whole story feels like a made-for-TV movie gone horribly real, and it’s happening right here in West Texas. The fact that someone would try to disguise a deadly dose of fentanyl as a sweet treat from a fake travel agency? That’s next-level sinister.

It’s not just disturbing ,  it’s a tragic reminder of how far some people will go when fueled by obsession, spite, and, let’s be honest, probably meth.
