Black Sabbath's Bill Ward Releases Song for Mass Shooting Victims

Black Sabbath legend Bill Ward has released a new song dedicated to the victims of the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting. The Bill Ward Band dropped “Arrows” earlier today (Oct. 1) on the shooting’s second anniversary.

“Arrows” is Ward’s first new music since Day of Errors released two tracks in November 2017. Composed by Ward, the song also features drummer Brian Tichy (Whitesnake / Foreigner / Ozzy Osbourne), bassist James LoMenzo (Black Label Society), guitarist Keith Lynch and additional performances by vocalist Sarah Dugas and Ezra Ward.

"In the evening of October 1st, 2017, there was a mass shooting in Las Vegas. What we're going to do on October 1st, 2019 is we're gonna release a song that I hope will be supportive," says Ward. "To me, it's kind of like laying a wreath and sending the very best to everybody and wishing everybody well, the injured. It's just a way of saying we're very sorry that all those things happened and that we honor those who are not with us today."

He continued, "It's a very solemn gesture, but at the same time, I've written a song that I hope can bring some solace and some good things to those who are still working through that particular shooting and those particular issues that they encountered because of the shooting." [via Blabbermouth]

The 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting killed 58 attendees of the Route 91 Harvest country music festival and injured hundreds more. It remains the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history and was one of the pivotal events which caused bump stocks to become banned federally.
