Abilene Texas Police Bust Multiple Drivers Exceeding 100 MPH On US Highway
As most locals know, driving in Texas can be hazardous for several reasons. However, one reason that seems to stand out is how fast some of us drive. One Texas police department clocked multiple drivers well over 100 mph. In fact, one driver was clocked at 123 mph.
The Abilene Police Department posted a photo on their Facebook page that captured the speeds they had recently clocked drivers going down US Highway 83/84 or as locals call it, Winters Freeway.

The speed limit on the highway is 75 mph except for a stretch where it drops to 60 mph closer to town. However many drivers exceed that speed limit daily. Heck, I've caught myself going over the speed limit at times, especially when it drops to 60 mph.

The photo that was posted showed drivers in Abilene were well over the speed limit with one being clocked at 123 mph! That is insane. Why does anybody need to be going that fast down the highway?
I get it. I love to go fast. And as I said, I've been guilty of exceeding the speed limit myself. But, going over 100 mph is crazy and 123 mph is simply insane.
As several commenters pointed out it doesn't take more than 10 minutes to get anywhere in Abilene so risking other driver's safety by going this fast on a highway that sees a ton of traffic is just ridiculous.
No wonder APD has increased patrol as we seem to be putting the pedal to the metal a little bit too much. Slow down, folks. It's not worth the consequences.
