On the heels of the recent release of their new album ‘Oceania,’ a classic Smashing Pumpkins compilation will get the reissue treatment. A remastered edition of 1994‘s ‘Pisces Iscariot,’ a compilation of B-sides and outtakes, will be released July 17.

“A collection of odds and orphans from the dusky realms of Pumpkinland” is how Pumpkins founding member Billy Corgan describes ‘Pisces Iscariot’ in the liner notes written by David Wild. “‘Pisces Iscariot’ was the little mix tape that went platinum,” writes Wild. “This unlikely smash album that some came to mistake for the Pumpkins’ third studio effort even yielded a hit single–another wonderfully odd moment in the landslide that was the intense early success story of Smashing Pumpkins.”

‘Pisces Iscariot’ reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart and was certified platinum. It included the Pumpkins’ version of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Landslide,’ which peaked at No. 3 on the Modern Rock chart. Several different configurations of the album will be available, including a deluxe physical edition that comes with a live DVD and the first ever Smashing Pumpkins demo on cassette. They are all available for pre-order here.

Billy Corgan curated the bonus material and special features from the band’s archives. The album was remastered for the first time from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig. ‘Pisces Iscariot’ is part of an extensive reissue campaign that will last through 2013. Last year, 1991‘s ‘Gish’ and 1993‘s ‘Siamese Dream’ were reissued. All the band’s albums and b-sides from 1991 to 2000 will get the same treatment by the end of next year.
