Iconic USS John F. Kennedy Ship’s Final Journey Unveiled In Stunning Video
The USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier was captured on video as it passed through South Padre Island in Texas on its final voyage.
The awe-inspiring ship, which was decommissioned by the U.S. Navy in 2007, was filmed by YouTuber Tommy Saenz as it slowly and majestically moved across the waters near SPI on the way to the Port of Brownsville where it will be scrapped.

As a frequent visitor to South Padre Island, I was super bummed to not be able to make the trip down to watch it pass through. Luckily, someone made a very cool video of the event which you can see below.
About USS JFK
The ship was christened by Jacqueline Kennedy on May 27th, 1967, and would spend 40 years serving the United States Navy.

After retiring, the ship was supposed to be part of a museum initiative. But in 2017 the Navy decided to designate the USS JFK for dismantling and a decision was made to have sent to Port of Brownsville, where she will be scrapped.
Personally, it seems like a sad way to end such an illustrious career serving America. I mean, who decided to take a famed ship used in battle and say "Hey, let's just use her for parts!"
While the ship will be simply scrapped for parts, the video that YouTuber Tommy Saenz did was awesome as he captured the essence of the majestic ship that once served our great country.
