You’ve probably seen the headlines where a Texas family was kicked out of a Texas Tech game for tossing tortillas. But there’s a whole lot more to that story than a few carbs in the air. The family came by our studios to talk about what went down, how it made them feel, and what’s happened since that viral moment.

Sitting across from me, you could tell this family bleeds red and black. They told me they were just caught up in the moment. When those tortillas started flying, their kids joined in — like generations of Red Raiders have done for decades.

But it all went sideways fast. Security showed up, and before they knew it, the Texas family was being escorted out in front of everyone. The couple pleaded with security, “Don’t punish our kids for a poor decision on us, where everybody else was doing this”. But security did take the family out of the game as “all the fans around us started booing”.
