Why the Heck Are We Still Getting So Many Scammy Calls in Texas?
Alright, Texas, we need to talk about all these scammy and telemarketing calls blowing up our phones at all hours of the day. I have personally blocked hundreds of numbers, and they just keep coming back like a swarm of mosquitoes.
Blocking Does Not Help
Whether you're in the big metroplex areas of Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, or small towns like Abilene, Merkel, and Clyde, it seems there is a never-ending battle with these calls. With phone technology the way it is now, we do see when a "spam likely" or "telemarketer pops up on the caller ID, but no matter how many we block, they keep coming back. I think they are Gremlins.

Scammy Calls In Texas
In Texas, it seems the scam calls are up, and the phony folks are coming up with new ways to take our money and our personal information. One Texas bank recently sent out an alert that scammers were using the bank's official number to call members to try to take their money. And more are popping up, according to the Texas Attorney General.

FCC Says It's Their Top Priority
According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), these unwanted calls, which include illegal robocalls and spoofed numbers, are the #1 consumer complaint they get. They say they have made stopping these calls their top consumer protection priority, which is awesome, but if you ask my call log, we’ve still got a long way to go.
What Texans Can Do Now
Despite all these efforts, it still feels like folks in Texas are still picking up a ton of scam calls like they’re part of our daily chores. From fake banking reps to robotic IRS agents, the scammers keep evolving, and it is annoying and frustrating. For now, there are only a few things we can do that may not stop the calls completely, but at least give you enough time to cook a steak on the grill before the next one comes in.
