The Dallas Cowboys haven't exactly made a huge splash in free agency this offseason. But, the past few days they have reeled in a few good players including a wide receiver from our neck of the woods, former Stamford Texas standout, James Washington.

Former Dallas Cowboys wider receiver, Dez Bryant, actually predicted the signing days before Washington signed the one-year deal.

Washington is no stranger to playing at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. In fact, he played in three straight state championship games, winning two in 2012 and 2013. As a senior for the Bulldogs, he racked up over 1300 yards on 73 receptions with 24 touchdowns. The dude also played defense that year making 42 tackles with 7 interceptions. He won the Biletnikoff Award in 2017, the nation's top receiving honor. So, to say he's athletic is an understatement.

How good was he in college?

Washington then went on to star at Oklahoma State where he snagged 226 catches for 4,472 yards and 39 touchdowns. He was then selected in the 2nd round of the 2018 draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He didn't exactly light it up in the 4 years he was with the Steelers, catching 114 passes for 1,629 yards and 11 touchdowns. But, he was a bit overshadowed as he found himself behind Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Washington now comes back to Texas to play for the Dallas Cowboys, something he says is a "dream come true".

It would be a dream come true if this move works for the Dallas Cowboys. We lost Amari Cooper in free agency, as well as Cedric Wilson, who I thought was on his way to becoming a star. Plus, Michael Gallup is rehabbing from a torn ACL, so it is possible to see Washington as the number 2 receiver going into next season.

I guess time will tell. In the meantime, I'll end with what I always end any Dallas Cowboys article I write: this next year could be our year! Go Cowboys!
