Walmart Frozen Shrimp Recalled in Texas Over Radiation Concerns
Okay, here’s the deal: the FDA just flagged a batch of Great Value frozen shrimp (yes, shrimp, ugh) sold in Texas (and a bunch of other states) because the shrimp might be radioactive. Yep, you read that right. Thanks, but no thanks!
If you’re like me and think shrimp is basically nature’s way of saying “nope,” this doesn’t affect us. But hey, gotta look out for the folks who are still into that slimy nonsense.
What’s the Deal With Texas Shrimp?
Two-pound bags of Great Value Frozen Raw EZ Peel Tail-On White Vannamei Shrimp (lot codes 8005540-1, 8005538-1, 8005539-1; best-by date: March 15, 2027) are on the “do not eat” list.
The Indonesian supplier (BMS Foods) possibly prepared or packed these under unsanitary conditions, raising concerns about contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope that, while not immediately lethal, could bump up the long-term risk of cancer.

Where Were The Radioactive Shrimp Sold in Texas?
Walmart stores in 13 states, including Texas. So, fellow Texans, maybe check your freezer unless you're like me and think shrimp is a tactical way that Mother Nature takes us out.
Check your freezer; if you've got any matching shrimp, just toss it. Don’t eat it, don’t donate it, don’t serve it to your pet (unless you want a radioactive pet, weird flex).
If someone you know in Texas who actually likes shrimp, warn them about this recall. Any relevant shrimp, then trash it. Refunds are available. And yeah, they might have ingested a tiny bit of radiation eventually, so better safe than sorry.
