Former Dallas Cowboys Receiver Suddenly Retires After Only 6 NFL Seasons
A former Dallas Cowboys receiver has suddenly retired after being reportedly put on the reserve/retired list for his new team.
Michael Gallup, who signed a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason, was hoping to revitalize his career after a promising start with the Dallas Cowboys before tearing his ACL in 2021.
Before his injury, Gallup was a rising star, and the Cowboys banked heavily on him, signing him to a 5-year 57.5 million dollar contract even after his injury. Believe me, as a Cowboys fan, I was left scratching my head on that deal.
After the injury, he was just never the same, averaging only 2.5 catches and 28 yards per game.

Gallup, drafted out of Colorado State in the third round, spent 6 seasons with the Cowboys racking up 3,744 total yards on 266 catches with 21 touchdowns. His best season was in 2019 when he had 66 catches for 1,107 yards and 6 touchdowns.
I was a huge fan of Gallup when he was with the Cowboys, but injuries always seemed to set him back and he never really lived up to his potential. Still, I was pulling for him to return to form as a Raider.
Sadly, the 28-year-old is set to retire per reports. His last game as a Cowboy was the loss against the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs last season where he racked up 103 yards.
MG, thank you for what you did for the Dallas Cowboys and good luck with your future endeavors.
