I could understand if you don’t want THC products in Texas. That’s a position. What I don’t understand is how people can lie straight to your face and not only get away with it—but expect you to nod along like it’s gospel.

Right now, there’s a bill on Governor Abbott’s desk that would make any detectable amount of THC illegal in products across the state. It’s the brainchild of Lubbock State Senator Charles Perry and being cheerleaded by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick. Whether you’re for or against the idea, you might want to remember those names.

Here’s where things go off the rails. Instead of just saying, “We don’t want it here,” they lean into outrageous, fear-based claimssuggesting THC is killing people while at a press conference in Lubbock. That’s simply not true. If It were, you'd have to step over bodies to get to work in the morning.

Yes, people have gotten high and done dumb stuff—just like they do with booze, pills, inhalants, or any other legal vice. That doesn’t make cannabis the Grim Reaper.

Then there’s the "it's for the kids!" narrative. If these products were truly targeting kids in any meaningful way, wouldn't the ERs be packed with toddlers on gummies? Spoiler: they’re not.

They also claim the bill “won’t hurt farmers.” Tell that to the hemp producers calling this legislation a “death sentence” for their livelihoods. That sounds an awful lot like harm, doesn’t it?

The gaslighting here is wild. You’re holding a phone that connects you to every study, every fact, every perspective—and yet some folks would rather trust a talking point than their own eyes.

You know this is nonsense. It's time to say so—loudly.
