Is There A War On Christmas?

Of all of the things to fight about, this is one of the most ridiculous.

The annual claims of a "War On Christmas" have begun. I'm sure there are better people than I to pontificate on this, but I've got one very salient point to make so we can move forward.

I don't think anyone can deny that Christmas-type celebrations existed long before it became a religious holiday. The Romans actually celebrated the birth of their sun god on December 25th and held wild, drunken parties that lasted two weeks. In fact, a lot of the traditions we celebrate today started way before Christmas became a Christian holiday.

With America being a melting pot, many Christmas and winter traditions were brought into the mix, and even better, many families started their own traditions. So you may be asking what all this has to do with "The War On Christmas"? The answer is, "mind your own business". The fact is, that Christmas means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.

No one is really fighting a war on Christmas. You may celebrate it however you want as long as you leave me to celebrate it however I want. I don't need your beliefs or traditions and you certainly don't need mine. I firmly believe that this is the problem that we are having these days is that social media causes people to get into other people's business.
It doesn't matter whether your tradition is going to church or throwing hot dogs at a ceiling fan, I hope you have the greatest Christmas ever and mind your own business. I absolutely love the spirit of giving, the happy songs, and the gaudy decorations. In fact, the only thing I don't like about Christmas is...people fight over what it is.
