The cardinal bird is near and dear to the hearts of many, myself included. Beyond its stunning appearance and unique song, it's often seen as a messenger connecting us to loved ones who have passed away.

According to Birds & Bloom, catching sight of a cardinal is more than a coincidence. It's believed to be a sign that a departed family member or friend is nearby, watching over and offering comfort. This belief helps me during times of grief and reminds me that the bonds we share with those we love go beyond even death.

The cardinal's vibrant red color pops out against the Texas backdrop, catching attention and sparking a sense of hope. Its presence during moments of transition is seen as a positive sign that departed loved ones are cheering us on from beyond.

In many cultures, the cardinals are a sign of renewal and vitality. That symbolism is deeply rooted in almost everyone I know here in Texas. Catching the sight of a cardinal perched on a branch or hearing its sweet birdsong is the highlight of my day. I only wish it had happened more often.

So, when you happen upon a cardinal, take a quick minute to reflect on its significance. Maybe it's a message from a loved one or a reminder of the circle of life. Either way, a cardinal popping in to say hello can bring a sense of peace and love.

Reconnecting with friends and family who have passed on is a beautiful thought. Goodness knows we've already seen so much loss, even recently, including in the entertainment world. Look below for those we hold in memoriam.
