The Powerball lottery is up to nearly $1 billion dollars and honestly, I'm just like everyone else wanting to win half a billion dollars. Yes, I know it says the "Power Ball" is nearly $1 billion but if you or I win it we will only get $465.1 million dollars on the cash payout. Still, that's way more money than I've gotten in my bank account now.

Furthermore, I've been thinking about this a lot lately, how many Texans have actually ever won an enormous jackpot from the "Powerball?" The answer to that is only two Powerball winners. There's the $500 million dollar winner in Princeton, Texas on February 11th of 2015. Then there's Paul McDowell, the $40 million dollar Powerball winner in Bells, Texas on May 29th of 2013.

Other than those two above-mentioned, all the other winners have been from other states. In fact, the last billion-dollar winner was in California. So if my gut instinct is telling me right I believe we may have a big winner in Texas soon.

The other question I have is where do I buy the winning lottery ticket here in West Texas? Have you ever thought about that? I mean, there are certain stores that sell a lot of winning lottery tickets. The winner may not win a million bucks, but the winners win a few hundred thousand dollars. A review of the last six years of lottery winners winning over $5,000 in Texas some Lone Star State retailers have sold more winning tickets than other retailers. And the reason for that may be attributed to a higher amount of traffic through those stores.

Strangely enough, no retailer has ever sold more than one giant jackpot ticket. So if you're like me and you intend on playing the Powerball or the Mega Millions which is also creeping up there too. As the lottery officials always tell us, "Play responsibly."

The odds of winning this Power Ball jackpot is 1 in 292,201,338 million. An interesting fact though, is out of the last top 15 huge jackpot winnings only four have been won during the summer months. Good luck I hope you win. Finally, if you have any secret ways of getting winning numbers, please share them with the rest of us.
