Memorial Day is one of my favorite holidays.  Like many Americans, I certainly respect the day and what it stands for. The day is also spent with family and friends.  Many outdoor activities happen as the Spring weather gets warmer.  As a result, to many, Memorial Day is the official opening of grilling season.  Yes indeed, I do love to grill. There's something about cooking outdoors that really brings in the season.

The next question that begs to be answered is, what to grill?  In Texas, beef is king, but there's so much you can cook on the grill.  From chicken to salads on the grill, keep scrolling for some tasty ideas.

Chicken:

Chicken on the grill is mighty popular and mighty tasty. Whether it's chicken breasts or wings, the smoky flavor with spices on chicken fresh off the grill is hard to beat. One of my favorites, Key West Chicken, is tops and the recipe can be found here.

Beef:

Stand back. Beef is king on the grill. My absolute favorite. It doesn't matter if the beef is on a k-bob on the t-bone, I gobble it up. A nice baked potato and some salad greens, bam. Delicious. Try one of my favorite k-bob recipes for Mango-Spiced Steak Skewers.

Shrimp:

There's nothing wrong with seafood on the grill.  In fact, many prefer it to anything else.  From grilled lobster tails to shrimp and scallops, flame-kissed seafood is just great.  Try a good Garlic and Herb Shrimp recipe here.

Burgers:

Perhaps the classic and most popular grilling items, burgers have made their way into family gatherings, picnics, and more.  Hamburger is versatile.  From jalapenos and bacon to a "Juicy Lucy" stuffed with cheese, you can have fun grilling a hamburger. Give one of my favorite stuffed burgers a try here.

Salad:

What? Lettuce on a grill? You better believe it.  If you've never tried grilled salad, it's a must.  My brother-in-law Myles grills up the best salad I've ever eaten.  It's the perfect companion to a grilled ribeye and New York strip. You can find a great recipe here.

I'm sure you'll admit, it doesn't matter what you put on the grill this Memorial Day, cooking outside brings a flavor to the food that you just can not find cooking on a stove. Gather some friends and family together this holiday for some grillin' and chillin'.
