According to several news sources including USA Today, CNN, and NFL, two people were found dead near Tahquitz Rock in the San Bernardino National Forest after a report of a rock climbing accident. A Riverside County sheriff's coroner identified the victims as Gavin Escobar and Chelsea Walsh.
Firefighters reportedly had to hike to the remote area where they found Escobar and Walsh deceased.
Escobar was a second-round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2013 draft. He backed up Hall of Fame tight end, Jason Witten, from 2013 to 2016. He later played for the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, and the Miami Dolphins. Escobar ended his career in 2019 and became a Long Beach firefighter earlier this year.
Rest in peace, Gavin Escobar.
