Cowboys Let ‘The Deuce’ Loose But Fall To Jaguars In First Pre-Season Game
The world was right again as the Dallas Cowboys took the field in their first pre-season game of the 2023-2024 season. The boys faced off against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game that saw the "deuce" get loose only to lose by 5 points.
It's hard to get too critical in the first pre-season game of the year, but the game was about as sloppy as one might imagine. The Cowboys couldn't hold on to the ball as both Pro-Bowl returner, KaVontae Turpin and running back Rico Dowdle both coughed up the ball.

Even with the mistakes, there were some bright spots for the Cowboys who had 20-plus starters sat out of the game. Second-string quarterback Cooper Rush completely 10 out of 12 passes and third-string QB, Will Grier went 22 of 31 for 199 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 interception. Tight end Jake Ferguson made fans forget about Dalton Shultz as he showcased his receiving skills with an acrobatic catch for a TD.

Deuce VaughnWhen I watched Deuce in practice, I wondered if his success would transfer over to a real game scenario. Deuce not only proved he can run with the big boys in the NFL, but he might possibly be a force to be reckoned with during the regular season. Only time will tell.
All in all, it was not the prettiest game in the world as most pre-season games are like that. But, we did get a solid look at some players that may have a huge impact on the season ahead.
Hey, it may be pre-season, but the NFL is back! Go, Cowboys!
