Abilene Music Scene Mourns the Loss of Terry “Big Sexy” Torregrossa
The Abilene music community just lost one of its loudest champions. Terry “Big Sexy” Torregrossa wasn’t just a musician. He was a supporter, a familiar face at shows, and one of those guys who made local music feel like family.
If you’ve spent any time around the live music scene in Abilene, chances are you saw Terry front and center, singing his heart out, cheering bands on, or helping behind the scenes. His passing leaves a hole that won’t be filled anytime soon.

Celebration of Life Concert Set for March 8 at The Zone
Friends, fans, and fellow musicians will gather Sunday, March 8th, at The Zone for an evening of live music celebrating Terry’s life.
- Show starts: 6 PM
- Cover: $10
- Purpose: 100% of proceeds go directly to his family to help with funeral expenses
Expect a night full of stories, loud guitars, laughter, tears, and the kind of community spirit Terry himself helped build. If there was ever a show where showing up matters more than anything else, this is it.
Community Support Extends Beyond the Stage
A GoFundMe has also been created to support Terry’s children during this incredibly difficult time. Donations of any size help ease the financial burden and show the family just how much Terry meant to this community.
Even if you can’t attend the show, contributing or simply sharing the fundraiser makes a real difference.
A Legacy That Lives in Every Local Stage Light
Abilene’s music scene runs on people like Terry, the die-hards who believe local music matters. The ones who clap the loudest, stay the longest, and make newcomers feel like they belong.
So if you knew him, raise a glass. If you didn’t, come out anyway. Support the family. Support the scene. And celebrate a life that helped keep live music alive in the Big Country.
