It's that time of year. We're getting some much needed rain. Temperatures are all over the place. The forecast changes more times than a baby's diaper. With all of that comes sniffles, runny noses, itchy eyes, and other allergy symptoms.

Here is what's causing your allergies to be so bad right now in Texas.

There Are 4 Really Common Seasonal Allergies In Texas

Most of this information shouldn't surprise you. We fight with these sneeze inducing villains year over year.

There are four really common seasonal allergies in Texas. Those four are:

  • Ragweed
  • Cedar Tree Pollen
  • Mold
  • Grass Pollen

The one on this list that I personally haven't ever really had to deal with is the cedar tree pollen, which induces what is known as cedar fever. A coworker of mine has described it to me as symptoms that make you feel like you have the flu, but it isn't. It's just what people call cedar fever. The only remedy is just to grit your teeth and try to get through.

Or so they say.

Ragweed and mold are really common allergy agitators. Grass pollen definitely wasn't on my radar, but now I can't help but give my lawn a little side-eye when I pass by it in the mornings.

Best Ways To Fight Back During Allergy Season In Texas

There are a lot of things you can do to help fight back during allergy season. Clear out your nasal passages often. I blow my nose while I have a cup of coffee in the shower in the mornings. I think it's helping.

Also, shower at night. Get all of that stuff off of you after a long day, especially if you've spent it outside. Don't take it to bed with you, even if you are into that kind of thing.

Another tip is to keep pets out of the bedroom, especially if they spend a lot of time outdoors. It's not exactly groundbreaking news that pets can potentially carry pollen into your bedroom. Think of that next time your cat snuggles up to your face.

Also, pet hair and dander can wreak havoc on your allergies.

Another trick is to help your immune system have a fighting chance. Keep your stress levels low, get plenty of rest, and engage in some self-care. Go for a jog or something. Get your butt off the couch.

Also, I hear that apple cider vinegar with lemon and water helps. As much as I don't want to, because it sounds disgusting, I'll give it a shot. Hopefully we can avoid the worst of the allergy season this year.
