If you’re searching for the best place to spend Thanksgiving in America, you don’t have to look to New York, Orlando, or anywhere across the country. The top Thanksgiving destination is right here in Texas.

What Texas City Is Carving Up The Thanksgiving Scene?

According to a recent WalletHub study, the top Thanksgiving destination in the United States is San Antonio, Texas. Quite honestly, my wife and I could’ve told you that years ago.

The River Walk is the Vibe

We go to San Antonio multiple times a year. It’s our little reset place. We love history, the culture, the energy, and everything about the historic city. It’s the kind of city where you show up and instantly feel like you belong.

Yes, San Antonio’s River Walk during Thanksgiving is pure magic. Mild weather, twinkling lights, music floating in from every direction, and restaurants that are ready to feed you like they’ve been training all year for this moment. It’s easy to just stroll, eat, sip, and laugh your way through the whole holiday.

My wife and I love grabbing a table right on the water, hearing the soft ripple of the river, and just soaking in the vibe. That’s the kind of Thanksgiving I want. Not chaos. Not a cleanup. Just peace, flavor, and good company.

A Feast Without the Stress According To WalletHub

WalletHub pointed out that San Antonio ranks high for affordability and restaurant quality. Which is perfect because there is nothing relaxing about basting a turkey for 6 hours. Here, you can let someone else do the cooking. Tex-Mex style Thanksgiving, anyone? Add brisket. Trust me.

WalletHub compared the 100 biggest cities across four key categories: Cost, Weather, Safety, and Holiday Fun. San Antonio came out #1 in America for Thanksgiving because it delivers all four without making your wallet cry or your stress level spike.

Texas Shines Bright on Thanksgiving

San Antonio isn’t carrying the Lone Star State alone on this list. Texas shows up strong:

  • Austin ranked high for holiday fun and nightlife (no shock there).
  • Dallas scored well in travel convenience and dining options.
  • Houston ranked high thanks to one of the best food scenes in the country.
  • Irving and Plano both scored high with celebrations and traditions

Basically, Texas knows how to celebrate, eat well, and enjoy the moment.
