Crying Children Forced Into ‘Baby Ghettos’ on Airplanes
In an attempt to appease adult travelers who would rather avoid screaming kids in a tight, confined space, airlines are increasingly segregating families with children to the back of the plane.
According to a recent survey, which has no doubt encouraged airlines to adapt these “baby ghettos,” three quarters of business travelers deemed dealing with children as the most irritating thing about flying.
At the same time as they’re segregating families from adult fliers, however, airlines are no longer guaranteeing that entire families sit together, since flights these days are almost always fully booked or overbooked.
So while today’s fliers are less likely to be forced into sitting near a screaming child than they had in the past, they are more likely to be in the even more uncomfortable situation of sitting next to an unaccompanied child. What’s worse?
