Abilene Ruff Riders Football Starts Saturday

Missing football?  No worries as the Abilene Ruff Riders are back for another season of arena football.  If you have never been to a game, then you have been missing out on one heck of a time.

So, the NFL has been over for a while.  Your "football chair" hasn't seen any action since the Packers beat the Steelers to win Super Bowl.  You visualize tackling random people - in some cases, you actually tackle random people.  Your wife is bugging you to get into Amercian Idol.

What the heck happened to the football season?

Sure there are other sports on.   You got Nascar, NBA, NHL, College Hoops and MLB is getting close to cranking up another season, but dangit, you miss some football!

I'm right there with you!

Fortunately, there is arena football in Abilene "by gawd" Texas!  The Abilene Ruff Riders!

The Ruff Riders were a team that moved from Katy Texas to Abilene 3 years ago.  The first season, they missed the playoffs by one kick, and last season was a bit of a disappointment as they only won two games.  Even through both seasons, I have gone to as many home games as I can, and win or lose, I always have a great time!

The game itself is pretty fast paced for a football game.  The field is, obviously, is smaller than a regular football field and some of the rules are different, but the goal is still the same - to win.

What I like about checking out the Ruff Rider games, is how up close and personal you can get to the game.  People are trash talking to players and coaches alike and the feel of the game is almost like watching a hockey game in a sense that you can get so close to the players as they play the game.

I dig the heck out of watching these games.  If you have not been to game, check it out! Take the whole family or just grab a couple of buddies and watch.  Yes, they do serve beer. Plus, this year the dancers are back!

So, if you get a chance, get out and support The Abilene Ruff Riders.  I promise you'll have a bad ass time!Bring your trash talking skills!
