A Texas Gamer Saved Her Friend’s Life From 5,000 Miles Away

A 20-year-old in Texas is being called a hero for calling emergency services after her friend in England she was playing video games with had a seizure. Dia Lathora of Texas thought it was going to be a normal afternoon playing video games with her friend, 17-year-old Aidan Jackson of Widnes, England. By the end of the day, Jackson's family would be calling the Texas woman hero for her quick thinking and life-saving action.

The two friends were playing video games when Aiden Jackson suddenly began having a seizure. Dia Lathora told CBS News she could hear breathing hard and it sounded like he was crying and choking at the same time. Lathora had her friend's home address, but didn't know any of his family member's phone numbers to contact them and say Aiden's having a seizure. Lathora thought to contact the next best thing and dialed the emergency number in the U.K. Using the address that Lathora had, they were able to get the local police to race to the teen's house, much to the surprise of Aiden's family.  His mother Caroline Jackson told the BBC she thought the police vehicles were in the neighborhood for someone else's emergency:

"I assumed they were in the area for another reason and then they ran up to the front door. They said there was an unresponsive male at the address. We said we hadn't called anyone and they said a call had come from America."
