Veer Union Vocalist Crispin Earl Says ‘Bitter End’ is About Not Giving Up

Vancouver, British Columbia-based hard rock quartet the Veer Union first grabbed the attention of the rock community with their 2009 radio hit, ‘Seasons.’ Now, the gentlemen are back with a new album, ‘Divide the Blackened Sky,’ and the disc is jam-packed with fast, hard riffing and lead singer Crispin Earl’s always-soulful vocals.

While the Veer Union produced the majority of the tracks on ‘Divide the Blackened Sky,’ the guys got a little help on the last song, ‘Bitter End.’ Producer Brian Howes, known for his work with Nickelback and Puddle of Mudd, lent his expert ear to recording sessions for the song, and Earl couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

“Essentially the lyric ‘I will fight ’til the bitter end,’ that’s what it basically means,” Earl told SoundSpike. “No matter what, we’re not going to give up. Most people build up a lot of things in their minds. We had to clear all that crap out of our heads and just kind of keep pushing forward and focus on the positive things in our life. That’s basically what the song’s about.”

The Veer Union are staring at plenty of tour plans for 2012, including dates with Cavo, Janus and My Darkest Days. Getting back on the road has taken some dusting off the cobwebs, but Earl says it’s more than worth it.

“It’s been awhile since we’ve been out there playing,” Earl said. “It’s been about a year and a half since we’ve been in the U.S. for sure. We’ve done a couple one-offs here and there.”

“Our live show’s going to be a little bit different,” explains Earl. “We’d like to communicate with the audience and have them participate as much as we possibly can in the show. There are a couple added things that we’ve never done in our live show. We’re excited to definitely bring those to the table and have people check them out.”
