I understand why Bob Dylan was huge in his day. I’ve never been a fan, but that’s why I’m hoping some of these upcoming covers for the big tribute album can turn me around. The tribute, called “Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dylan” include covers from some big names like Rise Against, My Chemical Romance, Cage The Elephant, the Silversun Pickups, Eddie Vedder, Tom Morello, Adele, and the Airborne Toxic Event. 75 of Dylan’s songs in all. I didn’t know he had that many. Here’s a video of the making of “The Ballad Of hollis Brown”, by Rise Against. Warning though, the song is about a South Dakota farmer and his family, already living in adject poverty, who are stricken with a series of hardships. The desperate farmer finally takes a shotgun and kills his wife and five children before shooting himself. Wow, the 60′s were depressing.
