After Motorhead were forced to miss the last four shows of the 2012 Gigantour, due to issues with frontman Lemmy Kilmister‘s voice, the band recently apologized to fans via Lemmy’s Facebook page.

A month or so into the 2012 Gigantour with Megadeth, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil, Lemmy suddenly lost his voice. Believing that it was a simple vocal strain, the band announced that their frontman would be back in action for the last three nights of the tour. Unfortunately, Lemmy’s condition worsened, leaving him unable to rock Motorhead’s final Gigantour dates.

The band took to Lemmy’s Facebook page on Monday, March 5, to address the cancelations:

To our fans: We want to sincerely apologize for missing the last four shows on the Gigantour, where we’ve had a great time with Megadeth, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil, who’ve all been top-notch. We would never miss a chance to play for our fans unless it was impossible. And in this case, it was. Lemmy had a combination of a viral upper respiratory infection and a voice strain, resulting in severe laryngitis.

“I’m giving my voice a good rest,” adds Lemmy, “and will be better than ever for our shows on the Mayhem tour this summer. Hope to see you all there!”

Motorhead are set as one of the marquis acts for the 2012 Mayhem Festival along with iconic metallers such as Slayer, Anthrax, Slipknot and many more.
