It may seem odd to think that Lostprophets have yet to take the stage on the Vans Warped Tour in their history, but the group is ready to make up for lost time.

This summer they’ll be supporting their ‘Weapons‘ album while trekking across the country’s fields and parking lots as part of the Vans Warped Tour lineup. Then, they’ll use their newfound experience and apply it to headlining the inaugural Warped Tour U.K. trek this fall.

Guitarist Mike Lewis tells Loudwire, “We’ve never done it and to be honest I can’t believe that in 12 years of being a band, we’ve never done Warped. But we’ve talked about doing it so many times and tried to work it out. So yeah, we spoke to them about doing it this year and we got the offer and obviously it was cool to tie it in with headlining in the U.K., which was a huge honor for us as well you know. But to come over and have Warped almost be our re-introduction into the States, that’s just going to be awesome.”

It’s been six years since Lostprophets have traveled in the States, largely due record label issues, but Lewis says he’s anxious to get out there and play not only the new music but also their back catalog. He adds, “We’ve got a half hour slot so we can come out and play some old stuff and some new stuff and try to have as much fun as what we can and hopefully people know some of the old stuff and get into some of the new stuff.”

As for headlining the first U.K. Warped run, Lewis says, “Absolutely [it's an honor] and especially the fact that we got asked to headline it. There’s Bring Me the Horizon who are really good friends of ours and they’re on it as well, and there ‘s a lot of long-standing bands that are coming over to the U.K. as well. New Found Glory are doing it and a bunch of others as well that have been doing it for a long time. So it’s definitely an honor to be asked to headline it and it’s a big deal for us as a band, but also it’s really cool to do it over here for the first time.”

But while the U.K. may be home for the group and have really supported them during their U.S. absence, the guitarist says he’s really anxious to trek through America again. In between the two Warped runs, the band has also announced a string of their own West Coast shows in early August.
