If you’re asking “what is a hashtag?” then you came to the right place.

Definition: The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages.

So, on to this week’s hashtag game: #favevideogame. This game is easy, just create a tweet naming your favorite video game and include this #favevideogame in your tweet so it will post on the appropriate page.

About 650 homes in the Dallas Ft. Worth area were damaged from the severe thunderstorms that dropped several tornadoes yesterday.  Early reports indicate that as many as 12 tornadoes might have touched down in that area.  The National Weather Service will be surveying the damage before giving an official count of how many twisters touched down.

About 600 people from 7 different flights were diverted to Abilene as a result of the storms. Amazingly, no deaths and no major injuries have been reported so far.

You can help those affected by the storms.

Abilene and Big Country residents can assist the tornado victims in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Global Samaritan Resources at 2074 N. 1st Street is receiving donations of cleaning supplies (shovels, wheelbarrows, work gloves, buckets), gift cards from home improvement retailers (Home Depot and Lowes), checks and cash. Drop off your donations at our campus at 2074 N. 1st Street from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Wednesday through Friday.

The city of Arlington Texas was declared “A State of Disaster” by the mayor today after severe thunderstorms spawned tornadoes that ripped through the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The Dallas Ft. Worth International Airport was hit by large hail as flights were shut down leaving stranded passengers.

At least 2 tornadoes were confirmed just south of Dallas alone.

Several tornadoes ripped through the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex tossing trucks like they were toys and leaving several towns damaged.  My brother, who lives in Grand Prairie, was able to shoot some video on his phone of one of the twisters and sent it to me.

The video is a little grainy but you can definitely make out the twister.  My brother is one heck of a narrator as well.
