Fireworks Show in Abilene
This year, the Wes Tex Connect fireworks show will be at Elmdale Airpark, which is just northeast of Abilene. General admission parking and tailgating will be available for $10 per vehicle. You can also get V.I.P. passes for $20 for adults, $10 for children. A V.I.P. package is also available that includes dinner for four at 6:30 and a parking pass priced at $75. Festival By The Lake
Clyde Lake will host a two day Fourth of July event that will feature live bands, cook-offs, carnival rides and more Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th. The festivities start on Friday at 5pm and then Saturday starting at 10am. There will be a fireworks display on both nights. Fore more on this event, check out their Facebook page below.
‘Frontier Fourth’ at Buffalo Gap Historic Village

Possum Kingdom Fireworks at Hell’s Gate
Just a short drive from Abilene is Possum Kingdom Lake which will have a fireworks display and other fun activities at Hell’s Gate on Saturday, July 4th. The activities get started at 6:30pm and goes until 11pm. View the firework show by boat on the water or enjoy watching the show from the YMCA Camp Grady Spruce – located at the end of Park Road 36. Hillcrest Neighborhood July 4th Parade
This year marks the 19th Annual Hillcrest Neighborhood July 4th Parade, starting at 10am on July 4th. The public is welcome to participate in the parade, no livestock or horses allowed, however, bring your bikes , strollers, antique cars, roller skates, wagons or just sit and enjoy the parade. Afterwards everyone is invited to the Hillcrest church gym for homemade ice cream and cookies. For more information check out the church’s website by clicking the link below.
Boomfest Fireworks and Music at The Rocks
The Boomfest Fireworks and Music at The Rocks takes place the day before Independence Day on Friday, July 3rd from 6pm to 10:15pm north of Lake Hubbard. There will be live music, several vendors, and a professional fireworks show. People are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs. The event is an alcohol free event, and security will be on hand. The event will be held at The North Park where CR 277 & CR 278 intersect, just north of the Hubbard Creek Dam. For more details, including driving directions, check out the link below.
‘Who Burnt The Beans’ Cook-Off in Novice
