The ‘Friday the 13th’ Reboot Has Found Its Setting and Script
It’s been a long time coming, but after almost a decade, producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are ready to start working on the Friday the 13th reboot. The original 1980 Friday the 13th is a horror classic that introduced hockey-masked lunatic Jason Vorhees to the world, but its sequels over the years have left a lot to be desired. Even the 2009 remake was just not that good. Now, it sounds like Fuller and Form, who also produced The Purge series, are ready for another go at it.
Marvel Released the ‘Doctor Strange’ Main Theme, and It’s So Good
Marvel has been steadily building up the hype for Doctor Strange, which is due out in theaters in only a few short weeks. Today, they released the end credits track off of the movie’s score, composed by Hollywood’s own musical magician Michael Giacchino (Ratatouille, Jurassic World, Star Trek Beyond), and it’s. so. good.
Rumor: More ‘Logan’ Character Identities Potentially Revealed
After months and months of silence, the next Wolverine movie Logan is suddenly giving us new bits of informations by the day. We’ve learned that big bad Mister Sinister was confirmed a while back, and that Boyd Holbrook is playing Donald Pierce, the nefarious creator of the Reavers, relentless cyborgs engineered to hunt down mutants. Now, a new tidbit has surfaced: the name of the person whose hand is holding Hugh Jackman’s in the film’s official poster.
‘Suicide Squad’ Pulls a ‘Pottermore,’ Launches Viral Marketing Website
Viral marketing is a pretty hit or miss business. Hollywood’s current king of viral campaigns, Ridley Scott, has lured audiences to his films by putting out video campaigns before his movies — before Prometheus, he released a few “ads” for Michael Fassbender’s David android, and ahead of The Martian’s premiere last year Scott’s team created a YouTube channel full of video diaries from the crew of the Ares III. Viral campaigns are designed to tease out interest in their films by providing the future audience with little bits and pieces of what they’ll see when they make it to the theater. The latest campaign, strangely enough, comes from Suicide Squad, which launched an odd little website today designed to let fans of the film click around “classified” documents and hunt for clues about the DC cinematic universe.
‘Wolverine 3’ Will Be ‘Very Different in Tone’ According to Hugh Jackman
The third and, as far as anyone’s saying, final installment in Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine movies is coming out a mere six months form now, but so far everything about it has remained a mystery. We know that Jackman is in it, but we don’t know a whole lot more than that, aside from a possible R rating. We’re bound to get more news soon, but for now Jackman himself is the only one giving us any clues as to what his next movie will be like.
‘Get Out’ Trailer: Jordan Peele’s Horror Satire Finally Sees the Light of Day
After it was announced that Comedy Central’s Key & Peele was coming to an end, the world wondered, what would these two get up to next? Their first feature Keanu, a comedic John Wick parody about a kitten that gets catnapped by gangsters, was more or less just okay, more a feature-length comedy sketch that ran on too long, rather than an actual movie. Bu...
Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz to Star in Lesbian Drama ‘Disobedience’
It’s been almost a year since Carol premiered and cosmically altered all of our lives, and now studios are looking for their next big lesbian drama feature. Like Carol, Disobedience is based on a book about two women in love whom society thinks shouldn’t be, and, also like Carol, Disobedience will star two incredibly talented actresses: Rachel Weisz has been a part of the project since about a week ago, and now Rachel McAdams is in talks to be her co-star.
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Sign on to Score Peter Berg’s ‘Patriots Day’
Peter Berg’s Patriots Day, about the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings and the hunt for the culprits, seems like an odd choice for the director of Battleship, Hancock, and the Friday Night Lights movie. But Berg’s latest film Deepwater Horizon shows his interests also lie in adapting true stories to film — or, at least, making true stories more exciting. Now that the dynamic movie score duo of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are set to create the soundtrack for the movie, Patriots Day could be Berg’s next big hit.
Cinemark Dropped Its Claim Against Aurora Shooting Victims
After the movie theater shooting in an Aurora, Colorado theater in 2012, a group of the victims got together to sue the theater chain Cinemark for not doing enough to prevent such an incident from occurring. They claimed that security flaws in the theater prevented employees from stopping someone carrying weapons onto the premises. This past May, a judge sided with Cinemark against the victims, claiming that the chain had no way of knowing about the shooter beforehand, and Cinemark was then legally able to recoup costs from the victims, which it fixed at $700,000. Now, the chain is finally dropping the claim, effectively ending the suit.
Daniel Craig Apparently Offered $150 Million to Keep Playing Bond
Remember way back when people criticized Daniel Craig’s casting as James Bond, with some even saying he was too blond for the role? Well, the times have changed, and with Sony searching for new some new blood to eventually fill 007’s shoes, it looks like they’re willing to pay Craig the big bucks to stick around for a few more installments.
Here’s the Electric Trailer for John Travolta’s ‘Life on the Line’
The best thing about John Travolta is that he commits to his performances. Whether he’s a Brooklyn disco fiend, or leaning in to the campiness as O.J. Simpson’s lawyer, or a woman married to Christopher Walken, he’s sincere even when he’s over the top.
The New ‘Max Steel’ Trailer Is Like a Young Adult Iron Man
Last week, the first trailer for Max Steel came as a complete surprise to, well, everyone. The live-action film adaptation of the Mattel-toy-turned-cartoon hasn’t exactly been in the press a whole lot since its first promotional images came out more than two years ago, but now it looks like something is finally happening.
