One of the most famous Texans out there, Willie Nelson is throwing his support behind Democratic Representative and El Pasoan Beto O'Rourke. This week, country music legend Willie Nelson made a political announcement that has angered some fans and excited others. Willie Nelson's not only throwing his support behind Beto O'Rourke, he's even throwing him a rally to celebrate. At the end of this month, Nelson will be headlining a campaign rally in Texas for Democratic Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke. Nelson made the announcement on his Facebook page for the "Turn Out For Texas" campaign rally happening in Austin on September 29th. Also participating in the event is Joe Ely, Carrie Rodriguez, Tameca Jones and Nelson's two sons, Lukas and Micha Nelson.

Back at Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnic summer concert, Nelson brought Beto O'Rourke onstage for an encore where the two played guitar and sang "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" for the delighted crowd. You can see the video of their duet above. In the Facebook post about the Turn Out For Texas rally, WIllie voiced his support for the Democratic candidate,

“My wife Annie and I have met and spoken with Beto and we share his concern for the direction things are headed. Beto embodies what is special about Texas, an energy and an integrity that is completely genuine.”

Some longtime fans of Nelson voiced their anger at his choice to headline the event for O'Rourke, while most seemed to support his decision. This will be Willie Nelson's first-ever public performance on behalf of a political candidate, according to Rolling Stone. The Turn Out For Texas rally will be Saturday, September 29th from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The rally will be held Auditorium Shores, located at 900 W Riverside Drive in Austin.
