The 39th annual Tour de Gap bicycle race that benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of the Big Country returns for 2022. The race is set for Saturday & Sunday, July 23rd & 24th, through the scenic community of Buffalo Gap.

Both the 'Tour de Gap' and 'Bike for Kid's Sake' rallies have combined to make this one huge happy family-friendly event. All riders under the age of 14 can ride free, so long as they're accompanied by a paying adult.

The 39th Annual Tour de Gap is even more popular after the pandemic with over 300 competitors from across the Lone Star State. Participants will ride through Buffalo Gap and the surrounding area, one can catch their breath and rest at the Old Settlers pavilion area, where a BBQ lunch will be served.

Saturday, riders can choose between the 11-mile race, 50K, or the 100K route. A pre-registration fee of $45 for adults must be paid by Thursday, July 21st. Registration after the 21st is only $55. Children under the age of 14 can ride for free with a registered adult.

On Sunday, July 24th you're invited to participate in the Annual Steamboat Mountain time trial on a beautiful 20K ride around the Buffalo Gap mountain and hill country area. The best part is that it all starts at the Main Street Station in Buffalo Gap.

All monies raised will stay in Abilene and go directly to Abilene's Big Brothers Big Sisters. BBBS matches adult volunteers with one child in a real mentoring program.

Registration for all the Tour de Gap events can be done online at the Tour de Gap Bike-Reg website. Want to volunteer or have any further questions please call Big Brothers Big Sisters at 325-674-3101.
