Victim Identified

After the next of kin was contacted, APD has released the name of the train fatality as 37-year-old Timothy Delgado of Levelland, Texas. Police stated that Delgado "appeared to have been unaware of the approaching train due to wearing headphones/earbuds.”

Police are encouraging folks not to walk on the tracks, as not only is it dangerous, but it is also illegal.

Second Fatality In A Month

In March this year, a man was found deceased on the tracks near the Grape and Butternut streets underpass area. According to the report, the man was a transient, and no cause of death was listed. But, with the recent fatality, Abilene residents shared empathy as well as concern, many of whom took to social media to express shock and grief.

Our hearts go out to the friends and families of those affected by these tragic losses.
