Texas Man Gets Indicted For Allegedly Stealing A Cake From Market Street
A trip to Market Street in Texas turned out to be not so sweet for a man who was recently indicted for allegedly trying to make off with a cake.
If you're like me, you're wondering how in the heck a guy gets indicted for simply stealing a cake. Well, there is a bit more to this story.
What Happened?
According to Big Country Homepage, on April 2nd this year, Taner Pierce was at Market Street on Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas when he decided to grab him an extra sweet deal. The report states that a loss prevention officer of the store stopped Pierce as he was trying to bolt with a free cake. The officer then leads Pierce to an office for questioning.

When I first read about this story, I thought "Why in the world would they arrest and then indict this man just for some cake? I mean just look at his mug shot, the man just simply wanted some cake.
While in the office, Pierce allegedly stood up to leave as the officer tried to stop him. That's when our cake bandit allegedly pushed the officer and ran off to leave. But, some other employees stepped in and made a sweet tackle to nab our confection criminal.
The report also states that Pierce may have broken the loss prevention officer's finger.
Pierce was charged with robbery and has now been indicted, all for a cake that was valued at $33.
It just goes to show you that you can have your cake and eat it too, provided that you pay for said cake.
