Abilene Area Teams in the Texas High School Football Playoffs
The 2023 Texas High School Playoffs are in full swing, and several Abilene area teams are still in it to win it, as regional round action continues.
Area teams Hawley, Albany, Abilene High, Stephenville, and Brownwood look to continue their seasons. Here's a closer look at the teams squaring off this week.

Hawley Bearcats
The Hawley Bearcats moved on to the regional round after beating Sonora 31-8 in conference action. The reigning state champs are 11-2 on the season and looking to return to the state championship game. They will have a tough matchup against the undefeated Stratford Elks. Kickoff will be at 6 pm this Friday in Lubbock at Lowrey Field.
Abilene High Eagles
The Abilene High Eagles are 11-2 on the season and will try to fly high against the Aledo Bearcats who are 13-0 on the season. Kickoff is at 7 pm this Friday at Stephenville's Memorial Stadium.
Brownwood Lions
The Brownwood Lions, who are 12-1 on the season, will attempt to roar past the regional round as they face the Decatur Eagles this Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm at Waco's McLane Stadium.
Albany Lions
The undefeated Albany Lions look to make the 12-1 Collinsville Pirates walk the plank this Thursday at Iowa Park's Hawk Stadium.
Stephenville Yellowjackets
The Stephenville Yellowjackets are 11-2 on the season and looking to sting the Anna Coyotes. Kickoff is at this Friday at 7:30 pm at NRH’s Birdville Athletics Complex.
Abilene Christian Panthers
The Abilene Christian Panthers are looking to add a fifth championship to their trophy case. They will face off in the championship game against the Covenant Christian Cougars. The game is scheduled for this Thursday in Waco.
