A social worker in a group home for the disabled almost lost his life trying to save residents when a tornado decimated much of Joplin, Missouri this spring. Now, his company’s insurance provider is denying him workman’s compensation.

The deadliest single U.S. tornado since 1953  tore through Joplin Missouri on Sunday,  killing at least 90 people. The death toll could climb even higher as more storms rolled through earlier Monday morning hampering search and rescue efforts.
