Steve Harris: Second British Lion Album Coming in Early 2020
Iron Maiden just wrapped up the last of their scheduled shows on the "Legacy of the Beast Tour" and Steve Harris is using this down time to focus on his other band, British Lion, who are aiming to release their second album in early 2020.
The first record, which came out in 2012, was billed as a Steve Harris solo album, but it's been a full band effort the entire time. They originally intended for the group to be called British Lion, which, instead became the name of the debut album. The U.K.-based five-piece have a short run of gigs scheduled for December, where they'll be playing old songs and tease some new material as well, as mentioned in a statement posted on the band's Facebook page.
In that announcement was a message from Harris, who said, "I'm in the U.K. in December and thought it would be great to take British Lion out on the road for a few shows while I'm here. We haven't played any in England since 2017 and as most people know, I love getting out and playing live whenever I can, so this seemed a good opportunity to fit some dates in. The setlist will be a mixture of songs from the first British Lion album and new songs from our upcoming second album which is due to be released early next year. We'll be announcing full details of that very shortly."
This ostensibly means there will be some prolonged inactivity for Iron Maiden, though Bruce Dickinson said onstage all summer that they'll be back with some new material soon enough. For now, though, we'll take another dose of Harris' love affair with '70s rock.
